Oakland City Council District Three 3 Race 2016 Has Seven Candidates

Oakland City Council District Three Representative Lynette Gibson McElhaney faces a giant reelection battle against six other candidates, one who ran for Mayor in 2014. In my history, this is the largest number of people ever to run for the District Three Seat.

Saied Kamarooz ran for Mayor of Oakland in 2014 in the race that produced Libby Schaaf as the current leader of our city. He is joined by Alan Brown, Roybn Hodges, Tyron Jordan, Anthony McNeal, and Noni Session

In 2012 Lynette was one of six candidates in a race where Oakland activist and now bar owner Sean Sullivan was the front runner in polls, but lost as votes were exchanged between black candidates, leaving Sullivan out in the cold. This tine Lynette, the Council President, is the front runner.
