Hey if they want it that bad they’ll just buy 2 candy bars and Mars will make more money. Obama is not getting to the root of the problem. Just sticking a band aid on it. Maybe with some better education in the schools and for parents about how sugar and grains will kill you and why and how to eat better to be healthy will there be some significant change. All the change I see right now is going straight into the pockets of Corporate Candy Maker Mars.
We have a long road ahead of us for change to the obesity and diabetes epidemic. Changing the size of a candy bar is pathetic!!
Is that the solution? come on…

It is, that every person, who works for the government, has the same rights as a normal citizen. Means, when I loan for 8% they have to loan at the same place for the same % – and it is not assumption that the ones who give it cheaper away, hope and expect that they are benefitting eventually.
So I am not allowed to accept gifts or other benefits, when I am working for the government. Means also teachers, etc.

The real thing started when he spoke to the mailbox of the bild newspaper and started a flame triads against his socalled friends there and ot lost in para military phrases, which is not acceptable!

The president is elected, there is a special group, independent from the gouvernment (but still political), who is allowed to vote. Each party can nominate a candidate – the gremium eventually votes till one is chosen.

The rumor you mention about Harland planning to use the names collected on recall petitions shows complete ignorance of the strict State laws against using names on petitions for any purpose other than qualifying a petition.

Greg Harland, btw, has publicly stated he is not entering the mayoral race.

Hey! Thanks for alerting me. I live right where the woman was robbed. There’s always weird stuff going on between 11pm and 4am. How do I know? Well I’m up at that time when I really ought to be asleep. Sometimes hard to do in our neighborhood though. It’s filled with activity around those hours.
I call the police at least 2x a month. Only once in the past 2 years have they actually come out and I think it’s because I called about a woman running around in clothes that looked like she ought to be down on Telegraph and 24th, along with some men who were trying to drag her into a car.
But usually the police NEVER come.
I’ve requested many times that they put more cops in this area between these hours. I’m shouting into deaf ears.
Neighbors used to get to know their neighbors when there were actually neighborhoods.
Having a block party once a year doesn’t constitute getting to know your neighbors. I’ve lived on this block for 15 years and I don’t know One of my neighbors. Only a friend up the street, because he happened to be on my swim team.
I grew up back East where there WERE neighborhoods and everyone looked out for one another.
I feel very isolated here in Adams Point. I find that people just don’t want to get involved. It’s really too bad.
And I”m sorry to hear about your experience walking around Lake Merritt. People are so stupid…

Gene talks about Greg Harland launching a second petition. Yes, the City Clerk told Mr. Harland that he must litigate if he has any legal concern. He refuses to do so but keeps talking about his worry. Actually, an elections attorney has reviewed the petition and found no problem.

Harland has few volunteers and no paid canvassers at this point, so voters are unlikely to encounter his petition.

Recall and Restore is the group circulating the original petition alsu used by Gene Hazzard. We are on the streets, among neighbors, and at community meetings.

If Pam really believes that our elections system is more democratic and more transparent than an Occupy Oakland General Assembly, then there is definitely an East Coast bridge for sale she might want to buy.
Since that’s probably not the case, I think I’ll take the piece in the spirit it was intended. As a lament that the Occupy Oakland movement is treating everyone as equal to everyone else, and not recognizing self-appointed leaders of any stripe. And that’s a cockamamie process to Pam. Maybe it’s really not. Maybe it’s what we should have been doing all along so we wouldn’t be in this goddamn mess. It’s never about leaders. It’s always about engaged individuals. When we traded that for elections bought and paid for with money, we paved our own road to hell.

Hope isn’t Hollywood and didn’t have the resources to protect herself through paying into the system. She shouldn’t have to. Wasn’t learning to dance going to be hard enough?

She has some nice people around her like her PA and sports contacts but not the same kind of people who get you warm fuzzy stories in People Magazine about weight loss or who would have influence and family the show would fear enough to play nice. Out of anyone on the show Hope had the least protection. Even her partner was likely on the way out so they didn’t need to respect him either. Not a surprise that when ratings proved soft they attacked the person who isn’t part of their Hollywood family and started to get the headlines they wanted. It was a dirty move. Hard to watch it happen all season. I hope people tune out for the rest of it.

well…shocked but thankful for the explanation and some closure for her true fans. Wow, I have to say that where were her PR people in all of this? I’m not talking about her sports PR people but hollywood people who perhaps could have stepped in and helped her out. Is it just me or do I get a feeling she was thrown to the wolves in an unknown world? Makes you wander. Having said all of that, I think she should be very proud of what she has achieved and she had the guts to do it. I think the judges held Hope to a higher standard from the start! Even at her worst and his best, she out-danced Rob, but I think ABC wants the “K” name to boost their ratings! I think that Hope and Maks had every right to be upset over the judges scoring! It just didn’t make sense that she be judged so harshly when contestants like Chaz were judged so loosely! JMHO.

After viewing both Hope’s and Maks’ egos and attitudes for so many weeks, their mouthing off to the judges who were only doing their JOB, the couple’s inability to handle constructive criticism and Maks’ condescending “This is MY show” delusions, it’s NO WONDER that DWTS would not want to risk putting them on Jimmy Kimmel. It would have been like letting a toilet overflow. Much better to focus on the 3 couples left who are better dancers, know how to behave in a professional manner and respect the show.

have been following this story closely and it just is very suspicious to me. Apparently JR said that they told them that they would be appearing on Kimmel early on tuesday morning. (the votes hadn’t even closed yet?!) Then DWTS make a backstage package to make them both look bad…what do you expect maks and hope to feel like in response to the judges? praise them! This needs to be investigated… It seems hollywood is not saying anything about how they have both been snubbed this morning. I hope you can find some answers for us. You have been correct all along, Hope has been treated like trash. Will they even invite them back next week to dance on the final? They didn’t even get a send-off package and are not on GMA this morning!! Hope told the truth when she said they wanted her off from day one and i guess they don’t like to hear the truth. This is the first time I’ve ever seen Maks act like a spoiled child. In my opinion, Hope just was not graceful at all…she did the steps but that was it. I think Maks fans carried her through as far as she got. I was really disappointed that Maks said that Derek got all the good dancers, especially when Maks was the one who asked for Hope in the first place (from what I understand). Yes, I always believed that Derek was the golden child and always got the best dancers, but who knew Ricki Lake was such a good dancer??! It appears to me that Derek is just that good of a teacher and choreographer. If Maks can’t bring out the best dancing in people, he needs to take his toys and go home, I’m afraid. And I LOVE Maks. Maybe his tough love teching just isn’t working anymore. JMHO.

I’ve also heard the theory that ABC is so worried about dropping ratings due to no one knowing their finalists, that they are giving over what would have been Maks\Hope’s media slots to the 3 finalists to introduce them to the public.

I also think maybe ABC had a gag order on them after Maks’ outburst and when they both broke it last night, ABC acted like a strict parent and took the playthings (media appearances) away.

It doesn’t refelct well on Rob, JR, or Ricki unfortunately. I doubt they had a choice in the matter, but if they want to win over Hope voters they could at least mention her name.

All along he’d been a man who could call Mayor Quan a “government facilitator.” So to me this story is not that some rational, reasonable, and widely respected man has left and is making her look bad. Instead we’re seeing a man who was giving her bad advice, at her expense, and who was trying to continue to influence her in ways that served only his own ideology, and now he’s given up and making a scene as if it’s all about him. So really, this is good news.

The world needs more examples, more role models of political spouses who are men married to women. I thought he did a fine job in the interview he did with the Chronicle right after her election, in which he managed to turn every question about him into an answer that was mostly about her.

Lately it looks like he’s starting to become something of a liability.

Especially if it’s true he participated in the move to hurt Oakland’s local economy by blockading the Port of Oakland for a few hours, as rumored.

Whatever the merits of the ideas expressed in this email, it draws more attention on himself than anything else.

Standard practice, amigo. Just about any story on any local TV newscast will advise you to find the link on the TV station’s site. The argument is that viewers are accustomed to getting sent there, erego they’ll better remember how to find the link rather than spewing a strange URL on TV.

And yes, it drives traffic to the TV station’s site. It’s a commercial enterprise. It’s their job to do that.

Your argument could say that TV stations “use” every story they do to gain web traffic and build audience. It’s what they do. The fact that it’s a breast cancer story is irrelevant — it’s standard practice.

Well, such a pleasant experience its been dropping by a blog such as this. And so I thought I should offer some feedback. This blog was recommended to me so based on that I thought I should ‘trot on over’ & check it over and yes, I agree… terrific effort. I am deeply distressed about the 2012 election. With everything that is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East (not to mention the U.S. economy) we certainly should be looking for a superior leader. I’m far from convinced that Mr. Obama or any of the Republican candidates thus far have the experience or skills necessary to do the job the way it has to be done. Being president of this country is an exceptionally challenging job. Do you think there is someone out there with the experience, skill, and moral conviction to do the job?

This is a great post. I am a student at FIU and I’m always looking for new information on Marketing. Even though I’m a Biology major, I have found that everyone has to know marketing because that’s the method that you get places in your life.
