LANE-KIFFIN-USC-PRESS-CONFERENCE Lane Kiffin lost his job after a horrible USC Trojans loss to Arizona State 62 to 41 Saturday night. Thus ends the Lane Kiffin USC era, and makes those who asked for his head happy. In all Coach Kiffin posted an 8–5 record his first year, 2010, then 10–2 in 2011, 7–6 in 2012, and finally 3–2 in 2013 before he was released last night. Overall, under Lane Kiffin, USC lost 7 of its last 11 games.

The bottom line is that in 2012, USC was a preseason #1 favorite, and went on to become the only USC squad to finish a season unranked after being selected to finish at the top as national champions.

According to the USC Football website, Lane Kiffin was informed that he was terminated when the team charter arrived back in Los Angeles overnight. USC Trojans athletic director Pat Haden will hold a press conference later today, Sunday.

I can just bet what Pat Haden’s going to say: “Well, USC expects greatness and after a promissing start, Lane Kiffin wasn’t delivering the goods. We fight on. We are The Trojans. We are USC. Yaddad. Yaddad.”

Well, given the way USC was playing, I think AD Haden was afraid that Cal may beat them. Considering the way Cal was clobbered by Ohio State and by Oregon last night, allowing over 100 points in those two games combined, alone, such an occurrence would have been unthinkable, but imminently possible.

Stay tuned.
