Area 51, that place somewhere in Nevada’s dessert and long rumored to be a place for testing of experimental planes and the housing of UFOs, was finally said to exist by the word of the CIA and in a story broke by CNN.
And remember that scene from the movie Independence Day?
This is huge news because it gives new, real life to all of the stories and documentaries I’ve come to ignore over the decades – stupid me. Seriously, for anyone of the Zennie62 era, Area 51 was constantly referenced in any story about UFOs and the government.
To me, this is right up there with the NSA leak scandal, and gives many good reasons to ask more questions about Area 51.
Someone tell John Russo, my long-time friend in Oakland, who once sent me a card with he and his wife supposedly at Area 51, and pointing to the sky as if they say a UFO.
From CNN: “newly released CIA documents officially acknowledge the site and suggest that the area served a far less remarkable purpose than many had supposed…According to these reports, which include a map of the base’s location in Nevada, Area 51 was merely a testing site for the government’s U-2 and OXCART aerial surveillance programs. The U-2 program conducted surveillance around the world, including over the Soviet Union during the Cold War.”
