An Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 plane crash landed at San Francisco International Airport, and brought front and center this blogger’s worst fears. See, I land at SFO at least twice a month, and at runway 22-R or 28-L. This is what it look like to land at the point where that plane crashed.
There were 307 aboard and 2 dead, and reports that some passengers fell out of the plane’s tail section, and there were bodies on the runway.
But exactly what happened to Asiana Flight 214 from Korea?
This blogger thinks it was windshear, which is a sudden downdraft or sidewind that pushes the plane as it’s coming down, as you see here in this example.
If that’s what happened, the question is was the pilot alerted to the wind problem, and if so why didn’t he compensate for it coming in? Windshear is a normal occurrence at SFO.
