Starship Troopers, or what this blogger calls ‘Beverly Hills 90210 in space,’ for its mix of the hottest women in Hollywood playing slightly younger high-school-age characters at the time (1997) is on television, again today.

Starship Troopers features a number of actors who’s names became household words because of its success as the starting point for their future work: Casper Van Dien, the amazingly hot Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Seth Gilliam , Neil Patrick Harris, Dina Meyer, and Amy Smart (from the Crank series) are some of the members of a large cast that, as soldiers in space, took up a military battle against a bug-like race of beings.

Gotta say it: Starship Troopers must be remade.

For the past few years it’s lived on in a series of animated films, the latest Starship Troopers: Invasion, which was executive produced by Mr. Van Diem, whom I met at Comic Con 2012.
