Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. You know the story about that special reindeer that had “the very shiny nose,” who grew up and learned to like who he was and to face his problems head on? Well, as this blogger blogs, the cartoon TV version of the 1939 children’s book by Robert May is on the CBS Television Network.

So, I did a quick search and learned that this stop-motion, Rankin/Bass version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has aired consistently since 1964, just two years after I was born!

For me, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on TV marks the official start of the Christmas Season. If you’ve never seen the classic, here’s a video clip YouTube version I found:
