Nintendo’s Impact On The Video Game Industry: An Infographic

Think Ninento’s just a bit player in the giant video game industry? Think again. According to this infographic from MBA Online, Nintendo single-handedly saved the video game industry from a certain death.

In the 1980′s video game industry revenue plunged 97 percent. But then Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System and made $1.5 billion – 15 times the money the industry made just three years before in 1982. Nintendo “made video games cool again.”

Nintendo launched characters like The Mario Brothers and Zelda, and over time they became household names and movie stars. Nintendo owns five of the top ten consoles sold and 75 percent of the portable video game software market.
